At this year's HD Expo we debuted Flare, our latest evolution in fire design solutions and we're beyond thrilled to have been honored by the hospitality design community with an IIDA/HD Product Design Award in the Accessories category! The 17th Annual IIDA/HD Product Design Competition honors innovation, function and aesthetic advancements in the hospitality industry. “The energy displayed in this year’s entries is palpable. Their will to innovate and reach for the new — that vigor is reflected in all of these products’ design. We are delighted to acknowledge and honor the product designs that best represent the spirit of this competition, and that truly elevate Design.” IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO Cheryl Durst, said.

EcoSmart Fire Featured in the New American Home

Fourteen EcoSmart Fire models are featured in the 2013 New American Home – a stunning show home built each year to coincide with the International Builders Show taking place January 22-24, 2013 in Las Vegas, NV. The New American Home has been dubbed a “real-world” laboratory that demonstrates innovative concepts, builder’s best practices, and energy efficiency in home design. When this year’s lead interior designer from Blue Heron Design Build sought warmth without compromising their sustainable initiatives, EcoSmart Fire was an obvious choice. Its clean burning bioethanol fuel results in a carbon neutral fire, which means all the warmth without the soot, smoke, or ash.

Lead Interior Designer, Lyndsay Jannsen, explains, “Fire was incorporated to add interest to the global design. These features increase people’s curiosity and creates a visual focus in different spaces throughout the home both on the inside and out.” EcoSmart Fire models showcased in the home include the Bulb, Stix, Lantern, Mix, and Lighthouse Series from the Outdoor Fireplace Range as well as the Ghost from the Designer Fireplace Range.

The New American Home embraces the ICC 700 National Green Building Standard, energy efficiency, indoor air quality, safety, and universal design. The program’s mission is to show that housing performance can be incorporated into the most simple or most complex homes, and that it’s equally as important as aesthetics. EcoSmart Fire CEO, Alexander Eburne, remarks, “We are honoured to be featured in the 2013 New American Home and it’s our hope that the sustainable design solutions employed in this year’s design raises the bar for builders everywhere.”

Tyler Jones, President of Blue Heron Design Build, chose EcoSmart Fire because of how it complemented the home’s design. He states, “We strive to create a sense of comfort and “home” while maintaining the ultra-clean design aesthetic of our Desert Contemporary Architecture. The warm glow of the fire features adds intimacy and ambiance to the otherwise clean lines of the home.” Floor to ceiling glass pocket doors open up the interior of the house to the exterior and EcoSmart Fire helps to bridge the gap between the two. Whether used indoors or out, the versatility of EcoSmart Fire adds warmth to the New American Home every step of the way.

Registered attendees at the 2013 International Builders Show can tour The New American Home daily during the show via free shuttle buses (ticket required) departing every half hour from the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Congratulations to Martin Band from Germany who recently qualified as a master craftsem in wood technology.  Martin worked with one of our BK Series burners to incorporate it into a custom coffee table to great effect.

New purpose-built design studio created to inspire and educate

The award-winning EcoSmart Fire has a new home. In an international first, a purpose-built design studio / showroom has been created in Sydney’s premier design hub, Alexandria.

Set within 435sqm, the studio has been designed to showcase the sleek and elegant EcoSmart Fires, which are at the forefront of the bioethanol fire industry. And much like the fires themselves, the studio has been created with originality and versatility firmly in mind.
