EcoSmart™ Fire achieves UL Listing in the USA

The arena of innovation and invention is an exciting and fast paced environment that pushes companies in many unique and challenging directions. First and foremost is the direction of compliance to existing rules and regulations - quite a contradiction of terms really when you invent something that is new, and then have to comply with something that is old - nevertheless, a road we had to travel.

After 3 years of working with Underwriters Laboratories in the USA we now have UL Listing on almost our entire collection.

Specific requirements for models sold with the UL Listed symbol include:

 - UL Listed models include Burner TwoUL - this is the same as Burner Two (our two litre burner) but has the UL marking on it - this UL marked burner will only be sold with completed models as the burner itself is not approved as an independent item - this means it can not be sold as a Burner Kit.

 - UL Listed models must have the Wind Screen Static fitted at all times

 - UL Listed models must be installed into a fixed secure position using the instructions and fixing supplied with each model.

All of the Renovator Range is UL Listed.

All of the Designer Range (excluding Coffee Table, Layer Table, Retro and Igloo) is UL Listed.

The Grate Range and Burner Kits are not UL Listed as they are not capable of being tested under Subject 1370 as their structure falls outside of the existing scope.  We are working with Underwriters Laboratories to expand the scope if possible.

Important:
For The Fire Company, UL Approval is a bonus, it is not a specific requirement for the product nor many of our customers.  The use of a 2 Litre Burner over a 5 Litre Burner certainly isn't because of any concerns we have about the safety of the Burner One (given it has been tested and approved by various other testing bodies around the world) - it's just all that UL were capable of approving given the scope of Subject 1370, the testing platform used for this type of product.

If you are not specifically after a UL Listed model then all of our collection is available with either Burner One or Burner Two.
